The brilliance of liberal minds seems to have no limits. Fox News reports on the idea of “Drone Courts” or “Assassination Courts” being created so that some judge can give the “go or no go” on using drones against U.S. citizens. I think it’s best to begin this with saying it is time to repeal the Patriot Act. The Patriot Act is really damaging this country by providing some really devious or even genuine dolts with more power and authority than our constitution ever intended. Power and authority is now just assumed to be a given!
I can see it now… Barney Frank, Diane Frankenstein and Sotomayor sitting in a dark bunker on Capital Hill deciding whether or not someone deserves their rights under the constitution. Insane! Here’s the supposed rationale below. The quotes are from Fox News. Sen. Angus King, I-Maine was referenced in the following quote.
According to his vision, the drone court would be an avenue for U.S. officials to argue in secret before a judge why an American citizen should be targeted for death. He said it would be like “going to a court for a warrant” and proving probable cause.
Except in this case, the judge would be ruling not on a search warrant or a wiretap — but a missile strike from thousands of feet in the air, and thousands of miles away.
The founding fathers of the United States would certainly say that our nation is no longer. We are not in a state of war with a national entity and these political hacks can’t decipher how to even govern because they do not understand the intent or origin of our constitution. It’s a sad state of affairs and this proposal of “Drone Courts” is reason to question the trust of politicians or bureaucrats suggesting this idea.
John Brennan who is being reviewed by the senate for nomination as CIA Director said the following.
“inherently Executive Branch function to determine,” and that the actions are taken only when “we believe that the intelligence base is so strong and the nature of the threat is so grave and serious, as well as imminent, that we have no recourse except to take this action that may involve a lethal strike.”
Previously Brennan was reported to “strongly oppose” waterboarding against foreigners but he believes in selling out the rights of U.S. citizens using death by drone because it’s so much more palatable. This kind of material coming from a man looking to take the position of the Director of the CIA should be very disturbing to every citizen in the United States. It is NOT a function of the President to make these type of decisions and this authority is NOT listed anywhere in the constitution. See my primer on why using drones on U.S. citizens is illegal.
